City Montessori School (CMS), Lucknow welcomes you to the fourth edition of its international children’s film festival organized by CMS Films & Radio Division. This film festival was inaugurated by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in World Unity Convention Centre (WUCC) auditorium located at CMS Kanpur Road Campus.

VENUE

This 9-day international film festival will continue till Wednesday, April 18. WUCC main auditorium and 7 other converted mini-theatres in the WUCC complex will be the venue for screening of films in this children’s films festival. There is no ticket for watching these children’s films, as entry is free.

FILM FACTS

In this 4th International Children’s Film Festival (ICFF) 2012, 135 children’s films from 36 countries will be screened in two shows of two-and-a-half hours each daily. 252 films were received as entries for this film festival, which were then scrutinized and then finally 135 children’s films were selected for screening by an expert preview committee. First show will be from 9 am to 11.30 am, while second show will be from 12 pm to 2.30 pm. In last year’s children’s film festival, ICFF-2011, 245 children’s films were received as entries from 31 countries. You would be interested to know that this international children’s film festival has a motto: ‘Film festival for world peace and world unity’.

COMPETE & WIN

Important fact remains that this is the only children’s film festival (national or international) that is being organized in Uttar Pradesh and the entire North zone of India for the past three successful years. Being a competition-based event, children’s films received from all over the world are selected by an expert preview committee. Later, these children’s films are judged by a panel of eminent jury members from India and abroad. Films being considered in competition categories in 4th ICFF will be judged by a panel of five jury members (4 from India and 1 from Germany).

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

As part of its social responsibility and meaningful contribution towards society, City Montessori School (CMS), Lucknow, proactively encourages a number of schools in the city to come and watch these inspiring, value-based children’s films in WUCC venue at CMS Kanpur Road Campus. We would specially like to mention that in film shows on Sunday, April 15, many NGOs-supported street children, special children (mentally and physically challenged) and children from government destitute homes will attend the shows and enjoy the films.

Right from Day 1, the estimated number of children who will be watching these films daily from April 10-18 is: 10,000 (5000 per show). If you do the math, you will find that around 90,000 children from many schools in the city would have watched these value-based, good characters-driven films at the venue in nine days!

DOCUMENTARY SECTION

As done in past three years, in this year’s children’s film festival too, cash prizes will be awarded to best films in different categories. A new category ‘Documentary’ has been introduced from this year in this international film festival. Many documentaries, along with regular children’s films touching on different children’s issues, will be screened for the benefit of schoolchildren and their parents alike in 4th ICFF-2012.

CELEBRITY GUESTS

In this children’s film festival, celebrity guests will also grace the event with their presence and share their thoughts with the young audience.
