Lucknow’s first ever Children’s Film Festival was organized by
City Montessori School in April, 2007 with the collaboration of Children’s Film
Society of India, Films Division, Government of India and the NIE Times of India,
Lucknow. It was a unique endeavour by an educational institution that had limited
experience in the field of organizing such an event as well as film making or film
direction. Children’s educational entertaining films were screened FREE OF COST
at prestigious theatre houses during the two-week long festival.
Educational Films produced by Children’s Film Society of India,
Films Division. Govt. of India, were also screened during the festival. The shows
ran ‘House Full’ with school children gasping for more and parents all praises for
the organizers for educating their children in such a simple way. Following the
stupendous success of the first Children’s Film festival, City Montessori School,
also organized the Second Children’s film Festival from 6th to 20th April 2008 every
morning at nine theatres including multiplexes of Lucknow.
CMS has been organizing the film festivals for the past two years,
to inculcate good human values According to its Founder/Manager, Shri Jagdish Gandhi,
“Cinema is a potent medium of mass communication that leaves an indelible impact
on everyone’s mind”. Through this media, message of value-based education can be
beautifully conveyed to children.
